“I know your works. See, I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it; for you have a little strength, have kept My word, and have not denied My name. Revelation 3:8
Every important door needs a key before access can be possible! If not with a metal piece, there are other ways to access a locked door, such as codes, fingerprints, voice, ideas or irresistible powerful force from God...
An open door can refer to a physical door or other areas of our lives that need an intervention... A Physical door needs the right key or the correct code numbers for it to open. While other areas of our life that need intervention such as peace, marriage, business, career success and many more can receive it through ideas, wisdom, or the irresistible force from God Almighty.
Someone can be having challenges in getting the right person to marry because the door of marriage is yet to open to him or her. Also, someone can be battling seasonal sickness and suffering from illness without a permanent recovery because the door to good health is not open to him or her.
Another person can be going from one challenge to another as if the whole world is against their existence because the door of rest from struggle has been shut against him or her. Whatever your challenges or shut doors may be, there is a God in heaven who can open any door that may have been shut against you.
However, different factors can cause God to open doors for you... We are going to be focusing on the factors surrounding the statement made by Jesus in our main test for this article... "I have set before you an open door, and no one can shut it;..."
The first factor surrounding the statement made by Jesus was "I know your works." Jesus was quite pleased with their work which bring about the approval of the open door. Any work that pleases God can give an access to open door. Whatever work you involve yourself in, whether for the furtherance of the gospel or being a blessing to someone, has a standard by which it is weighed before God...
"Each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he will be saved, yet so as through fire. 1Corinthians 3:13-15
This gives us an idea of how our work is accepted before God. We must make sure we are doing it to the glory of God and not with grumbling hearts or doing it to receive praise from people!
Again, Jesus added another statement to further give more factor for an open door "for you have a little strength, have kept My word," Jesus knows very well the temptation each one of us can resist and knows the one that may be too much for our spiritual level! He will not allow what we can not resist to come against us...
In this case, despite their little strength, Jesus says they kept His word without compromise. The circumstances or challenges that are thrown at you may be too tough to bare but open doors shall be the reward of those who will not compromise on God's word regardless! You must be fearless and stand up for God even when you are physically standing alone!
Jesus went further to say, "and have not denied My name" Not denying the name of Jesus could mean different things and one of them is, people who never neglected the effort to spread the saving knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus whenever the opportunity presents itself. Jesus has this to say to us... "Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. Matthew 10:32-33
What I have discussed so far were the factors surrounding the open door Jesus spoke about in our main Bible verse for this article. I must say that Jesus is not limited to any factor before opening a door for you if you call on Him. He is God and can step into any situation at any time but these factors are biblically proven to open doors...
Nevertheless, we must create more time with God in prayer and studying scriptures to enjoy more of His intervention in our case!
The scripture is full of godly wisdom, godly counsel and divine direction to accomplish God's plan for our lives but we must plugin fully into God's will and be sold out completely to Him so we can enjoy the wonderful treasures of God's word.
Prayer
"The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face shine upon you, And be gracious to you; The Lord lift His countenance upon you, And give you peace.”’ (Amen)
