Lift your eyes on high, And see who has created these things, Who brings out their host by number; He calls them all by name, By the greatness of His might And the strength of His power; Not one is missing. Isaiah 40:26
The Hebrew word for Great is large (in magnitude and extent); in number; in intensity; loud (in sound); older (in age); in importance; and great things. The Hebrew word for "mighty" is described as a "champion" or "hero". A champion is someone who has surpassed all rivals in a sporting contest or other competition.
A champion is someone who still stands when all others have fallen and failed... A hero is someone who is admired for their courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities... Like "a war hero". This is a similar description of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; He came, saw and conquered! He is the greatest, mightiest and Champion of all champions.
Our God lives outside of time, "A day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day in His eyes." He is amazing and His mind is beyond any understanding. Nothing escapes His sight; He sees and knows all things! "He is the same yesterday, today and forever" (Hebrews 13:8)
His hair is white as snow. His eyes are like a flame of fire; His feet are like fine brass refined in a furnace, and His voice like the sound of many waters; Out of His mouth comes out a sharp two-edged sword, and His countenance is like the sun shining in its strength. He is great and mighty." (Revelation 1:13-18)
The great and mighty God makes impossibilities possible. There is no impossibility found in Him. "He who hangs the earth on nothing and binds up the water in His thick clouds" What can He not do for you? (Job 26:7-8)
Lazarus was dead, buried for four days and all hope of coming back to life was lost. The great and mighty God stepped into the scene, overcame the power of death and brought Lazarus back to life. (John 11:1-44)
The children of Israel came to a crossroads and were trapped between the Red Sea and the Egyptian armies... It was impossible to survive alive but the God who is great and mighty stepped into the situation, parted the Red Sea, made a way for the Israelites where there seems to be no way and gave them deliverance. (Exodus 14:10-31)
Sometimes, you may be confronted with a situation that looks impossible to change. Relax, your God is great and mighty. Your case is not closed! The great and mighty God shall visit you and cause people to celebrate with you. "For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me, (Isaiah 46:9b)
Our God is the beginning and the end! He set boundaries for the sea so they don't return to cover the earth. He placed sand as the boundaries of the sea, by a perpetual decree. "And though its waves toss and fro, Yet they cannot prevail; Though they roar, yet they cannot pass over the sand." Jeremiah. 5:22
Out of the richness of His love, He sent His son Jesus to this evil world, but evil could not corrupt Him because He is greater and mightier than evil. He came to this earth pure and He ascended from this earth pure. In Him was no deceit, no evil intentions, no sinful deeds and no wicked thoughts. He overcame evil with His righteous life, purity and His mighty power. The same purity is offered to all who will come to Him by faith, trusting Him as Lord and Saviour.
Anyone can experience the great and mighty power of God when they come to our lord Jesus in repentance. Whoever surrenders his or her life to our Lord Jesus, their sins will be forgiven. He took our sin and nailed it to the cross! So, as many that believe in Him though they were dead, they will live and shall live forever. (John 11:25)
One of the greatest miracles God ever performed is restoring a soul to himself... It can only take something powerful and supernatural, great and mighty to take a soul which is corrupted by sin, full of evil and condemned to death, then turns that soul into a beautiful soul where God dwells by the power of the Holy Spirit! There is no controversy that our God is the greatest and mightiest in all universe. It's good to know that God is great and mighty however, it's far better to experience how great and mighty He is...
