"Again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid; and for joy over it, he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Matthew 13:44
How much are we willing to give up for God? How is our commitment level to follow Christ? How sold out are we to the things of God? Considering those things or people who hold high spots in our hearts, can we be able to say that Christ is first in our lives? I am talking about being willing to make a selfless sacrifice for the mission of Christ as we would do for our comfort and pleasure!
Being sold out to God brings us to the place where we are no longer the owner of ourselves and no longer have a say in our lives. We become God's own by the price He paid to buy us through the blood of Jesus Christ. Every part of our body responds and acts as the physical representation of God; completely sold out to please Him.
Our hearts and minds taking over by God's Spirit. We are no longer free to give our hearts and mind to anything or love certain things... "And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ This is the first commandment. Mark 12:30
Our thoughts are submitted to God's thoughts because we are not free to come up with our solutions or decision to address challenges without checking through with His word and being sure that they both agree. Whatever we may come up with as an individual or as a group must be rooted in God's word.
When we are sold out to God, our eyes and ear must be sold out to Him also. But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. Matthew 5:28
Whatever we may decide to watch or listen to must be something that pleases God! We can preferably choose not to watch or listens to everything we might like to see or hear because we know it is not pleasing to God and it can be a stumbling block to our spiritual growth.
Also, the human hands can sometimes get involved in so many things that are not pleasing to God. Being sold out to God also refrain our hands from touching or doing anything that displeases God.
Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, Nor sworn deceitfully. Psalm 24:3-4
We must be careful of what we touch, what we pick up and what we choose to take home.
In addition, the role of the mouth as a person who is sold to God can not be ignored! We must watch the words that come out of our mouth and the type of things that goes into our mouth. "Lest I sin with my tongue; I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle, While the wicked are before me.” Psalm 39:1
We must always think things through before we speak them out and not speak them out before thinking them through. Our mouth must be dedicated for the Master's use and it must bring glory to God at all times.
Moreover, our desires must manifest the will of God because a person who is sold out to God has their desires also sold out to please God. "Sin must no longer rule in your mortal bodies so that you obey the desires of your natural self." Romans 6:12
We refuse to give in to the desires of the flesh but wait on God for our desires to be consumed by Him. Christ is worth sacrificing our desires for because obeying Him gives us more pleasure than anything we desire.
Lastly, being sold out to God involved any option or decision from our spirit, soul and body. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths." Proverb 3:5-6
We are not free to make any convenient decision that contradicts God's word or choose certain courses of action to cover up our sins. Abortion isn’t just another way to get out of a mess. Divorce is not the first option to pop into our minds in a rocky marriage.
We must allow God to tell us what to do before yielding to pressure and making decisions to please ourselves or releasing ourselves from the heat we may be facing. That decision may not be what Christ is telling you to do even though it may be the best option available. Allow God to take His full place in your life, including the choices you make
The main reason we should be sold out to God with all our being is that He voluntarily chose to be sold out to us. From God’s perspective, we are like the treasure in the field, Jesus gave up all the splendour and majesty of heaven, to purchase us out of the world. He values us, more than we value ourselves.
In conclusion, only you can ever determine whether or not you are sold out for the cause of Christ, or whether you will be sold out to Him. Know that He has given everything He has to make it possible for you to have eternal life. You too have the choice to give up anything for the sake of Christ and be completely sold out to Him!
